AN EMERGENCY
LUKE 7:2-10
Luke 7:2–10 (ESV): 2 Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. 3 When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.” 6 And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.
7 Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. 8 For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.
Hi, Dear child of The Mighty God in the Highest Heaven. Welcome to The Stable Sanctuary. The above Stated scripture from the Holy Bible depicts an episode of a centurion, an officer in the Roman Army; who sought divine assistance from Jesus Christ; when the officer’s servant fell sick to the point of passing on. Hey, the Roman officer loved his servant greatly. He only heard about Jesus Christ and went out to seek Him. Surely, life has complex issues that only Jesus Christ can handle effectively.
A GOOD REPORT
When the centurion found Jesus Christ through the elders he had sent he requested that Jesus Christ would come and heal his servant. When the elders met Jesus Christ, They gave a good report concerning the centurion; check verse 4 and 5. Jesus Christ went with them; but before He reached the centurion`s house, the man sent friends to Jesus; politely requesting Jesus just to speak healing ,”…. Say in a word and My servant shall be healed.”
AUTHORITY WITH HUMILITY
From verse 7 and 8, we see a positive confession based humility being expressed by the centurion. He also makes a positive comparison of authority in the spoken word that makes Jesus Christ marvel at him. Truly, it is very wonderful to make Jesus Christ to be highly honoured. He is the Lord of lords and King of Kings as well. Honouring Jesus Christ glorifies God in Heaven.
GREAT FAITH
In verse 9, Jesus Christ confesses to the people who followed Him that “….. I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” The statement is quite wonderful. It shows that two things: unbelief and faith can create negative and positive impacts respectively, in the presence of our Almighty God. Yes, for many christians, prayer seems not answered due to unbelief. Spectacular answers to prayer are a result of faith.
Verse 10 is the specific proof that God honours faith and He acts immediately upon a prayer made in faith. When Elijah prayed on Mount Carmel, The fire of the Lord fell from Heaven and consumed his sacrifice instantly.
This was an act of spiritual authority in the spoken word. Likewise you and I can tackle complicated issues by using spiritual authority in the spoken word. Faith transcends unbelief and doubt. May you soar higher by faith in Jesus Christ.
# Nowadays, emerging issues need Jesus Christ to overcome them.
# Strive to be a person of a good report.
# Politeness and humility can open up opportunities.
# Authority in Heaven honours faith.
# Stay blessed in Jesus Christ. Amen.
