STEPPING OUT IN STYLE

JOHN 4:5-7

John 4:5–7 (NKJV): 5 So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob’s well was there.

Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.

Hi, Dear child of The Mighty God of The Universe. Welcome to The Stable Sanctuary. The Holy Bible Scripture stated above outlines a moving spectacle of Jesus Christ when He went to a city of Samaria known as sychar. It is said that this city was the ancient city of Shechem ; found near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. This fact enables us to learn that Jesus Christ understood clearly whatever He was doing; hence as the Bible clearly states that the steps of a man are ordered by the Lord. Surely, as you read this, May the Lord God order your steps daily; to walk circumspectly for the honour and glory of His name.

A HISTORICAL WELLSPRING:

Verse 6 states that Jacob’s well was there meaning that the spot has a long Bible History. Today, the well is still there almost four thousand years after Jacob! This is an indication that God’s Life spring wells cannot dry up. They stand the test of time . Let the word of God that is in you last the test of time; to enable you live forever in the Kingdom of God.

Due to much travelling and exhaustion, Jesus Christ sat on the well. The time was around 1200 hours ; midday. Verse 7 states ” There comes a woman of Samaria to draw water …” Hey, this became the greatest moment in the Samaritan woman’s life . It became a game changing moment for her. Kindly allow Jesus Christ to  access and change you. It shall be for your social ,economical and spiritual benefit.

 THE LIVING WORD

At this point, Jesus said to the lady, “ Give me to drink.” Madam Samaritan lady must have been startled due to the fact that Jews were not allowed to mingle with Samaritans. They could not talk to them leave alone ask them for a favour. John, the writer of the episode must have been surprised as he records the episode clearly in the absence of the other disciples. From this, we learn that we ought to open up to strangers so as to help them access God’s saving grace. Jesus Christ is The Living word of God that comes down to sinners and transforms them fully into great ministers of the gospel of grace.

 LIFE GIVING WATER

Jesus Christ did not show  social animosity to the Samaritan lady as illustrated in verses 9 and 10. Instead, Jesus Christ puts before her the knowledge of ” The Gift of God” ; which is our Great salvation; that He alone affords to provide. Infact Jesus proclaims to her Eternal life ; which is His word: The life Giving water ; salvation that slakes spiritual thirst forever. The lady finds the phrase ‘ Living water ‘ to be intriguing. She draws her emphasis on Jacob; Jesus Christ emphasizes on the living water . This shows that Christ accepted is spiritual thirst forever solved and quenched.

You and I dearly need Jesus Christ to quench our spiritual thirst once and for all. Forever. Yes, Jesus Christ is a perennial fountain of life giving water ; check verse 14 for this. Verse 15; the woman said unto him ,” Sir, Give me this water, that I thirst not…” Meaning that she now comprehends Jesus Christ clearly. We need to understand God’s word and fully comprehend it.”He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of Living Water.’’[John 7:38].

CONCLUSION

Jesus Christ steps out clearly to break all barriers: social, economical, political, religious and racial. He steps out in style to meet and interact with all people so as to bless them with Eternal  Life. The Lord understands historical backgrounds of all people and desires to reach all. Christ Jesus; being The Living Word of God speaks life to anyone that comes His way. He alone is the Life Giving water that comes from God. When one receives in  Jesus Christ, one gets everything. The Samaritan woman received Jesus Christ and from there , She was never the same again. Her life  was fully and totally transformed . Let the Eternal Word of God transform You and I once and for all. Glory be to God.
