THE POWER OF GOD’S WILL
GENESIS 35:9-15
Genesis 35:9–15 (ESV): 9 God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him. 10 And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; no longer shall your name be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.” So he called his name Israel. 11 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall come from your own body.
12 The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and I will give the land to your offspring after you.” 13 Then God went up from him in the place where he had spoken with him. 14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he had spoken with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering on it and poured oil on it. 15 So Jacob called the name of the place where God had spoken with him Bethel.
Hi, Dear child of The Mighty God in The Highest Heaven. Welcome to the Stable Sanctuary. The above outlined scripture from The Holy Bible is an episode concerning God’s programmed will for His servant Jacob, the son of Isaac , the son of Abraham. Jacob had just arrived in Luz in the land of Canaan. He had built an altar and called the place El-beth-el; meaning “ the God of the House of God”, because God appeared to him there almost thirty years before as he fled from his brother, Esau. Hence it is wise for one to recognize God’s will as one journeys through Life. Discover the power of God’s will for your life; because it always stands at your side always. God does not change His programme for one’s life.
A NEW NAME
Verse 9 States;” And God appeared unto Jacob again….and blessed him.” This happens after Jacob had left succoth; a place he had stayed for ten years. Oftentimes we may not hear God’s voice or access His will until we are at the place God wants us to be . The right place . God told Jacob to leave succoth and go to Bethel, where God speaks and reveals a blessing. In verse 10, God speaks to Jacob; “…. Your name shall not be called anymore Jacob, but Israel shall be your name….” The renewal of the name given some ten years earlier at peniel implies that God’s will does not change. The power of God’s will is infinite. You and I need to put our entire trust in God; who never changes. He is a good God . Faithful is His name. The Gift and calling of God are unchangeable. Indeed, Jacob is his name of weakness while Israel is his name of strength.
THE BLESSING AND PROMISE
Now check verse 11…..” I am God Almighty: be fruitful and Multiply…..” El-Shaddai , The all sufficient God is pronouncing a generational blessing to Israel, His servant . In verse 12, God mentions Abraham and Isaac to show that the blessing and promise cannot be changed. You and I need to know that God’s nature is Love. Yes, unconditional love that spreads from one generation to the other generations for them that keep God’s word and covenant according to His Divine principles. Despite opposition from the enemy, God’s word remains true. His promises are Yes and Amen. For always.
THE OFFERING
In verse 14 and 15 Israel sets up a pillar of stone and pours a drink offering there on . He also pours oil on the pillar. The pillar of stone represented Christ, The Rock of Ages; annoited by The Power of The Holy Spirit. Hence the place becomes Beth-el, meaning “ House of God”. With Christ in the House, blessings overflow. This is because Christ Jesus is Alpha and Omega; The beginning and the End. Life is all about Jesus Christ. The offerings that we give to God cheerfully and heartfully help to build up splendid relationship with Him. He becomes our friend and companion. Everyday.Everywhere.
CONCLUSION
The power of God’s will is always at your side. Access it for the glory of God. One’s name can be changed by God for better life outcomes. Seek to do what God wants you to do. God’s promises and blessing cannot be changed. Unconditional Love; which is God’s nature does not change.Christ Jesus, The Rock of Ages, anointed by The Holy Spirit, dwells in us.We become One in Him every day , every where.Hence, it is imperative for us to serve God with our offerings cheerfully.
