THE WAY TO GO

MATTHEW 9:35-38

Matthew 9:35–38 (NIV): 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

  Hi, Dear Child of The Mighty God of The Universe. Welcome to The Stable. The above stated scripture from the Holy Bible is a story set in the year 31 AD. Verse 35 states the mission of Jesus Christ systematically: a teacher explaining fundamental Biblical Truth in synagogues, a preacher proclaiming truth of the gospel/ good news of God’s Kingdom and a healer of sickness and diseases among the people. Surely that is the way to go for you and I. We need to be ready to accomplish God’s purposes for our Life.

A COMPASSIONATE MAN

A glance at verse 36 reveals a new twist and turn. I see Christ moved with compassion on the people. The Lord is full of pity and sympathy for the people. The people are weary, fainting, scattered everywhere just like sheep without a Shepherd. This shows a lack of spiritual leadership. Jesus Christ is capable of seeing beyond many generations. The story is the same nowadays.

WHERE ARE THE LABOURERS?

The Lord of Glory raises a pertinent issue with His disciples in verse 37: The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. This means that preachers and teachers of righteousness are in high demand. Where are they? They have to stand up to the occasion. Almost a half of the people on planet Earth may not have come into contact with the knowledge of the saving grace of Christ Jesus. Sounds like a paradox? Yet real.

TIME TO INTERCEDE

A tangible solution is provided by Jesus Christ in verse 38. Wow! Wonderful. You and I are asked: pray you therefore the Lord of The harvest that He will send forth labourers into His harvest. Here we realise that every notable challenge finds a good solution in Christ Jesus . There is need for us to take up the challenge and provide the much needed spiritual leadership. Just like Abraham did for Sodom [Genesis 18:16-33] its time to intercede seriously.

CONCLUSION

   Hey, Jesus Christ is calling upon us to come help change the world. God’s Gospel program for us includes preaching, teaching and  healing.This shall help alleviate the plight of many people. Christ provides the way to go. Multitudes scattered across the globe need spiritual leadership for them to experience the Light of God in their Life.

Good and Faithful Labourers are highly needed in God’s Flower Garden. You and I stand to be counted. The time to intercede is now. This calls for active participation in God’s Divine  Gospel Program of Activities. Stay blessed in Christ Jesus.
