UNWAVERING FAITH
DANIEL 6 : 16-22
Hi , welcome to The Stable Sanctuary. Now here is a narrative of resilient faith and Divine Protection in the midst of peril. It is the captivating story of Daniel in the den of lions. A tale of courage and stamina. Daniel , a devout man of God in the court of King Darius exhibited great faith in God despite the decree that forbade prayer to anyone except the king. As Daniel continued in prayer to his God, he faced the danger of being thrown into the den of lions. Such was the cruel fate meant to silence his love and devotion to his God.
DANIEL 6 : 16-22
16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”
17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.
19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”
21 Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”
IMMINENT DANGER
Hey! As Daniel descended into the dark den, hungry lions prowled menacingly with much appetite. Here was great danger; but Daniel remained resolutely steadfast in his faith. He trusted God for Divine Protection. The entire night was long, (weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning -Psalm 30:5b); prayers of the faithful ascended to heaven like incense seeking God’s intervention for mercy, protection and deliverance for Daniel. What a spectacular experience?
KING DARIUS’ ANXIETY
At the break of dawn, just as the first light shone in the den of lions, King Darius reached the den. Being moved with great compassion, the king rushed to the site anxious for Daniel’s fate. The king was very amazed and joyful to find Daniel safe and sound. Daniel was unscathed, untouched by the hungry lions. The Lord God Almighty had send His Angel to shut the mouths of the lions, thereby preserving His servant, Daniel. Indeed God is great.
THE KING’S DECREE
Having witnessed the miraculous protection and deliverance of Daniel, King Darius was profoundly moved to proclaim the greatness of Daniel’s God. The king made a solemn decree (Daniel 6:25,26) of The Greatness of God. The Faith of Daniel became a timeless beacon of light to the world. It provides the power of trust and devotion in the face of adversity. God shall always act swiftly to protect and deliver His people from imminent danger regardless of location, situation or circumstances.
