A COMMAND TO OBEY
PSALMS 78:1-7
Hello, welcome to The Stable Sanctuary. In Psalm 78:1-7, the psalmist calls us to listen and learn from the stories of our faith. Presented here is an old testament command to obey the Law of Moses. The phrase, “Give ear to my law” is expressed thirty- two times in The Old Testament. In the New Testament not even once because Jesus Christ obeyed and fulfilled all the Law of God. The psalmist emphasizes the importance of sharing God’s teachings with future generations. Let us be inspired to recognize our role in passing down the legacy of faith. May we know that the impact it has on community is so profound.
PROPHETIC UTTERANCE
The psalmist begins with a classic invitation: “Give ear, O my people, to my teaching…..I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old.” This call is not just for the individual but for the entire community. It is a prophetic utterance that compels us to engage actively with God’s word and to listen intently. [Matthew 13:35]. By doing so, we open our hearts to the wisdom and guidance He provides. It is essential that we, as a community, foster an environment where everyone feels encouraged. Let us always share our experiences and insights about God’s faithfulness.
RECOUNT THE WONDERS
The psalmist continues by highlighting the significance of recounting the glorious wonders of the Lord. “We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation.” Here, we see the power of storytelling as a means of passing on faith. Our personal testimonies and the stories of God’s work in our lives serve as a bridge connecting generations. Sharing these marvelous narratives not only strengthens our faith. Rather it also instills hope and courage in those who will follow in our footsteps. Let us endeavor to inspire generations to come through knowledge of the Holy Scriptures.
A TESTIMONY IN JACOB
Finally, the psalmist emphasizes the purpose of these teachings: “For He established a Testimony in Jacob, and appointed a Law in Israel…..That they should set their hope in God.” By instilling a sense of hope and trust in God, we equip future generations to face the challenges of life with confidence. As we share our faith and the lessons learned, we build a solid foundation for future generations. Let us always aim to encourage resilience and faithfulness in the face of adversity.
CONCLUSION
Psalm 78:1-7 reminds us of our vital role in passing down the legacy of faith. By listening, sharing stories, and building a strong foundation, we ensure that generations to come know the greatness of our God. Let us commit to this sacred task, knowing that our efforts today will shape the faith of tomorrow. Together, may we inspire hope and trust in God for all who come after us. Such is the wonderful commitment for us to engage.
