A HIGH HONOUR

GENESIS 22:1-18

Genesis 22:1–18 (NKJV): 22 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!”

And he said, “Here I am.”2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”

6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!”

And he said, “Here I am, my son.”Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.

9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

11 But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”

So he said, “Here I am.”

12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”

15 Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

Hi, Dear Child of The Mighty God in the Universe. You are greatly honoured by God in Heaven. Today, it is a good day for You. Welcome to The Stable Sanctuary; a site for you; meant to download Great blessings from Heaven into your life. The above Stated scripture from The Holy Bible is a wonderful episode based on Abraham; whom God testifies that He is a friend of God.

From the first verse,….God did tempt Abraham….Eh. This means that God put His friend Abraham to a ” test”. Sincerely, it is a great honour; Infact a High honour to be tested by God. He cannot give you a test which He knows that you will fail. His test is meant to uplift and promote you. Abraham was to go sacrifice His only son, Isaac, on Mount Moriah. The name ” Moriah” means ” Jehovah is provider”. Yes, Abraham believed God without any ray of doubt. He did what God told Him and started on a journey to Mount Moriah. God is perfect. His way is perfect.

  THE WAY TO WORSHIP:

In verse four, now the third day of the journey, Abraham saw the place afar off. To ensure everything shall be smooth, Abraham asks his Young men who accompanied him to stay with the ass as him and Isaac goes to the site of worship. Hey, The Stable Sanctuary; to you is a site of True Worship unto the True God of Heaven. Here, we are not a religion but worshippers of God Almighty. In verse seven, Isaac wants to know the Lamb for sacrifice; upon which Abraham tells him”…. My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering…..” This is a great statement of faith in God. Indeed. Isaac in his heart; the spirit testifies to him as ” I delight to do your will, O My God” hence he gives himself as one to be sacrificed. Wow. A Great Wonder is here.

Now , Abraham built an Altar on Mount Moriah. Note that after very many years, this is the very place where King Solomon built The Temple of God in Jerusalem. This God, His way is perfect.

A LIVING SACRIFICE

The Holy of Holies which contained the Ark of the covenant in the temple was built over the exact spot. Isaac lay here ready to be slaughtered; a kind of Holy sacrifice; a living sacrifice. Check verse ten. Abraham is fully surrendered to God; ready to slaughter Isaac. An angel of the Lord calls immediately from Heaven; “… Abraham Abraham….” This now very urgent.3

Finally, a ram is accessed; to be offered as a sacrifice in the Place of Isaac. God had provided Himself. Wow. This is Divine providence; Jehovah Jireh. Yes, a LIVING SACRIFICE.

COVENANT PROMISE

In verse fifteen, the Angel of the Lord God calls Abraham the second time. A covenant promise is here stated; blessings that shall be downloaded from that place are generational blessings; Forever to all people that believe in God. Verses sixteen to eighteen outlines what God shall do to Abraham; and to his generation; including all that believe in God just as Abraham did. Here is where we are now seeing God’s perfect plan for our Great salvation. We are Highly blessed by God through Jesus Christ.

# You and I are a living sacrifice. Glory be to God in the Highest Heaven.
