THE POWER OF FAITH
JOHN 2:5-11
John 2:5–11 (NKJV): 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.
Hi, welcome to The Stable Sanctuary.
In John 2:5-11, we witness a remarkable moment at the wedding in Cana, where Jesus performs His first miracle by turning water into wine. This passage not only highlights the miraculous nature of Jesus but also illustrates the significance of faith and obedience in our lives.
LISTEN AND ACT
Mary, the mother of Jesus, plays a crucial role in this narrative. She observes the need for wine and approaches Jesus, saying, “They have no more wine.” Her words reflect an understanding of Jesus’ capabilities and a deep trust in Him. This moment serves as a reminder for us to recognize the needs around us and to bring them to Jesus with faith. Just as Mary instructed the servants to do whatever Jesus told them, we too are called to listen and act upon His guidance.
SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
When Jesus responds to Mary, He asks the servants to fill the jars with water. In this act, we see the importance of obedience. The servants didn’t question or hesitate; they followed His instructions. It is in our willingness to obey, even when we do not fully understand, that God can work miracles in our lives.
The water, transformed into the finest wine, symbolizes the abundance and joy that faith can bring. This miracle is not just about the physical transformation but about the spiritual renewal that Jesus offers to all of us.
JESUS’ GLORY REVEALED
The unfolding events are hilarious: Turning water into very sweet wine. The six waterpots; 18 to 27 gallons each, depending on the size, were quite large.
John notes that this miracle revealed Jesus’ glory [John 17:5] and led His disciples to believe in Him. It serves as an invitation for each of us to deepen our faith and trust in Jesus. When we witness the transformative power of God in our lives, it strengthens our belief and encourages us to share our experiences with others.
Conclusion:
As we reflect on this passage, let us embrace the call to action, the importance of obedience, and the promise of transformation that faith in Jesus brings. May we, like the servants at Cana, be open to the miraculous possibilities that arise when we trust and obey.
Let us carry this lesson into our daily lives, knowing that Jesus Christ is always ready to turn our ordinary into extraordinary. Together, let us celebrate the joy of faith and the abundant life that awaits us in Christ.Yes you can always.Stay blessed in Christ Jesus.
