WELCOMING EVERYONE

MATTHEW  19 : 13,14

Matthew 19:13–14 (NIV): 13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

In Matthew 19:13-14, we read, “Then people brought little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” This passage invites us to reflect on the importance of welcoming everyone. More so and particularly the vulnerable and marginalized in the community

MODELS OF FAITH

Jesus’ response to the disciples teaches us that every person matters. Regardless of age, status or background, everyone holds immense value in the eyes of God. Children, often seen as powerless, are models of faith and innocence. In our communities, we must strive to recognize the worth of every individual. This includes not only children but also those who are often overlooked or dismissed. When we embrace inclusivity, we mirror the love and acceptance that Jesus exemplified.

BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS

Jesus challenges the societal norms that seek to exclude. He calls us to break down barriers that hinder others from experiencing His love and grace. This means actively working against prejudice, discrimination and any form of exclusion. We are called to create space where everyone feels welcomed and valued.  Jesus Christ welcomed the children.

TRANSFORM LIVES

Let us commit to being a community that embodies love and acceptance. Our actions should reflect the heart of Jesus Christ. Our habit is inviting all to experience the warmth of belonging. When we open our hearts and arms, we create an environment where faith can flourish. We transform lives through faith and actions.

CONCLUSION

Matthew 19:13-14 reminds us of the importance of welcoming all into our communities. Let us follow Jesus’ example. We embrace the little ones and those on the margins.
