WAVES AND BREAKERS

PSALMS 42:7

Psalm 42:7 beautifully and profoundly expresses, “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” This profound imagery invites us to explore the depths of our relationship with God. Indeed, there are powerful emotional waves and breakers that accompany our spiritual journey. David is saying that at times we must be brought into deep distress. Thereafter we can be brought to the deep things of God. When this happens, it is like tumbling us head over heels: we become defenseless. Yet this is imperative, it brings us to the elegant place of total consecration.

OUR DEEP LONGINGS.

In our lives, we often encounter moments of turmoil and uncertainty. The deep waters, the waves and breakers all together symbolize the challenges we face in life. They also reflect our deep longings for connection, purpose, and understanding. It is essential to recognize that these feelings are not signs of weakness. Rather these feelings are a natural part of our human experience. They compel us to seek God, who understands our depths. They also invite us into a deeper relationship with Him.

EVER-PRESENT GOD

When we find ourselves overwhelmed by life’s waves, we must remember that God’s presence is always with us. The psalmist reminds us that even amidst the chaos, God’s love and grace are ever-present. Let us immerse ourselves in prayer, praise and worship, and in the study of His Word. May we allow His presence to sweep over us, providing comfort and strength. As deep calls to deep, we are invited to respond to God’s beckoning. This response requires us to step out in faith, trusting that He will guide us through The Turbulent Waters. There comes a time when The Loving-Kindness Of The Lord God Is Gloriously Manifested Through Divine Beckoning.
