SUBMIT TO AUTHORITY

1st PETER 5:5-9

⁵ In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”[a]

⁶ Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. ⁷ Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

⁸ Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. ⁹ Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believersthroughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Hi, Dear Child of The Mighty God in The Highest Heaven. Welcome to The Stable Sanctuary. The above outlined scripture from The Holy Bible indicates to us the way by which we may access the blessing of God upon our life . The main reason why you and I are in this world at this point in time is that we may serve God’s purposes in our current generation. It therefore calls upon us to be submissive to the authorities; that is government authorities as well as religious authorities. Our God is a God of good order. He respects His word. Verse 5 clearly states that God gives grace to the humble.

HUMILITY

The Mighty Hand of God shall always locate the character and behaviour that exhibits humility. Such a character is on the way of being highly lifted by God. The Holy Bible is full of such characters; to name a few: Joseph in Egypt, Esther, Daniel , David and Mary, the mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ. These and many more others were shining stars during their lifetime. They shall shine forever more in God’s Kingdom. You and I need to exhibit humility towards people and God; as evidenced in verse 6.

STAY SOBER

In verse 7 and 8, we are made to understand that our Total commitment to God cannot go unrewarded. He cares for us. God’s Concern is towards us; hence we need to be mentally upright at all times because our enemy moves around like a roaring lion with intent to cause harm . This indicates that You and I are very precious in the plan of God. We need to watch out lest we fall prey to the enemy’s intrigues/ stratagem.

RESIST THE ENEMY

Verse 9 States that we should resist the Devil mentioned in verse 8. We have to be strong in faith: what Jesus Christ did at the cross of Calvary. As believers, we face the onslaught of the enemy daily; Thanks to God for Jesus Christ; Colossians 2:15 is assurance of our victory won by Christ, God’s blessings locate us and follow us perpetually.

CONCLUSION

To access God’s blessing, always endeavour to submit to government and religious authority. God grants grace to the humble; such grace is highly lifting in nature. The Mighty Hand of God cannot miss to touch a humble character. Such a one becomes a shining star. Stay sober in Christ to avoid the adversary’s stratagem. Always uphold The Faith of Jesus Christ to retain your God given blessing. Follow Psalms 20:1-9. Stay shining in Jesus Christ.
