NEEDFUL SERVICE
MATTHEW 20:1-8
Matthew 20:1–8 (ESV): 20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’ 5 So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same.
6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’ 8 And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’
Hi, Dear child of The Mighty God in The High Heaven. Welcome to The Stable Sanctuary. The Holy Bible scripture stated above depicts a scene on a farm: a vineyard. One day , work was to take place on the farm. The farm owner went out to seek for labourers; early morning, meaning at 6 am. He hired labourers and agreed with them on the way forward. Always agree with someone before you get engaged in one’s business activity.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
In any work engagement, there are terms and conditions of service to be followed. Such Is the word of God. Two cannot get on together unless they are agreed. Labourers who were hired first agreed to be paid a penny; an equivalent to forty dollars a day in our present monetory value. This is good. Incase you are an equal opportunity employer, pay your workers well and God shall bless you.
ENDLESS NEED
The work seemed plenty. At 9 am the employer went out to seek for more workers . This he did at 12 noon and 3 pm as well . At 5 pm he sought for more workers. Terms and conditions for working remained the same. Yes , a good employer does not shift or change working terms and conditions unnecessarily. There was much work, it had to be completed. The employer and the employees both acted in utmost good faith. The work was well done. Always, workers must ensure that their work input exceeds expectation; for they work for God; Solely.
THE END RESULT
At 6 pm, evening, the employer asked his steward to pay all the workers as agreed: a penny for the day’s work; beginning from the last to the first. This is in verse 8. The employer was hereby acting according to the agreement he had put in place. Whether one came to work early or late evening, the pay was to be the same.
In this episode, Our Lord Jesus Christ is teaching us about The reward of Grace; which is unmerited favour. It is based on receiving what one does not deserve. Salvation through Jesus Christ is by the grace of God and not of our work. Our good work avails us nothing. The Grace of God avails to us everything by faith in Jesus Christ.
# Welcome to Jesus Christ. He is everything you need.
# May God bless you as you anchor your life in Jesus Christ.
# Always, God’s Grace is sufficient. Amen.
